News & Resources » Charity Bike Ride Charity Bike RideWe have decided to organise a charity bike ride next year in memory of Ann Donald, our former president, who died earlier this year. We will be raising money for the Circulation Foundation and for Activity Bow – two charities closely linked to Ann. Ann was a truly vibrant, committed and inspiring individual, as all those of us who knew her will testify. According to her family she very much enjoyed cycling and as we all know she was dedicated to research throughout her career and so we feel this ride will be a fitting tribute to her. The ride will be over 25th-27th May and will be from the Institute of Child Life and Health in Bristol to St Thomas’ Hospital in London, both places where Ann worked (around 160 miles in total). The ride will start at around lunch-time on the Friday and finish on Sunday afternoon. We would like to invite SVT members to take part in the ride. Later those of you not riding will have the opportunity to sponsor us! If you fancy a challenge for 2012 and would like to join us please email Rachel Walker ( rachelsimon.walker@virgin.net ) or Kate Sommerville ( katesommerville@aol.com ) before 31st January. Some pre-training for the event is advisable and there will also be an entry cost for participants of around £80. This will cover your food and accommodation for the duration of the event as well as a support vehicle and crew. We hope that many of you will feel inspired to get pedalling and take up the challenge!
