ARTICLE
Is Assessment of Popliteal Artery Diameter in Patients Undergoing Screening for Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms a Worthwhile Procedure
G. Morris-Stiff, M. Haynes, S. Ogunbiyi, E. Townsend, S. Shetty, R.K. Winter and M.H. Lewis
Vol 30 (I) July 2005, 71-74

This group concluded if a definition of popliteal aneurysm of = 1cm is used, then 4.3% of popliteal arteries assessed during aortic aneurysm screening may require further surveillance.

ABSTRACT
Techniques for a Successful Full-length Peroneal Artery Sonographic Visualization
S. Luján and E. Puras
Vol 30 (I) July 2005, 111

Suggests that a lateral approach to scanning the peroneal artery maybe superior to a medial approach, although for optimum views both approaches should be used.

Compliance of abdominal aortic aneurysms evaluated by tissue Doppler imaging: Correlation with aneurysm size
Anne Long MDa, Laurence Rouet PhDb, Alvine Bissery PhDc, Patrick Rossignol MDd, Dikran Mouradian MDd and Marc Sapoval MD, PhDa
Vol 42(I) July 2005, 18-26

This study found changes in AAA dispensability appear when the AAA measures around 45 mm in diameter, but a larger study will be needed to clarify this.

ARTICLE
The inaccuracy of simple visual interpretation for measurement of carotid stenosis by arteriography
Zachary C. Schmittling MD, Robert B. McLafferty MD, Jeffrey S. Danetz MD, Syed M. Hussain MD, Don E. Ramsey MD and Kim J. Hodgson MD
Vol 42 (I) July 2005, 62-66

Compared with a method of objective measurement, this group found visual interpretation of angiograms overestimated most carotid artery stenoses.

ARTICLE
Normal reference intervals and ranges of side-to-side and day-to-day variability of ocular blood flow Doppler parameters
Andrzej Ustymowicz?, Zofia Mariak†, John Weigele‡, Tomasz Lyson§, Jan Kochanowicz§ and Jaroslaw Krejza?,
Vol 31(7) July 2005, 895-903

This group determined that ocular blood flow Doppler parameters range widely and are significantly age and sex dependent. Ranges of “normal” side-to-side and day-to-day variability of the parameters can help to determine abnormal flow pattern

ARTICLE
Clinical validation of common carotid artery wall distension assessment based on multigate Doppler processing
Tiziano Morganti?, Stefano Ricci?, Francesca Vittone†, Carlo Palombo† and Piero Tortoli
Vol 31(7) July 2005, 937-945

In principle, this study concludes accurate investigations are feasible, even without the support of an imaging system.

Effectiveness of lipid microbubbles and ultrasound in declotting thrombosis
Feng Xie?, Jeane M. Tsutsui?, John Lof?, Evan C. Unger†, Jason Johanning?, William C. Culp‡, Terry Matsunaga† and Thomas R. Porter
Vol 31(7) July 2005, 979-985

In brief, low-frequency US is capable of rapidly recanalizing large intravascular thromboses with IV lipid-encapsulated microbubbles and ultrasound
