Vascular Laboratory Practice

This publication has been commissioned by the Society for Vascular Technology in collaboration with the IPEM to provide a set of national guidelines for the recommended working practice in vascular laboratories.

It takes the form of a modular “how to do it” manual of cerebrovascular, lower limb arterial and lower limb venous investigations. Each of the four Parts describes how to perform each test in a step-by-step format, covers relevant anatomy, physiology and presenting symptoms, equipment required, interpretation of results, pitfalls and other aetiologies. Part I includes chapters on relevant physics topics, duplex ultrasound controls, safety issues and reporting standards, as well as a comprehensive glossary, references and suggestions for both background and further reading. Parts I to IV are sold as a complete set, and cannot be sold separately.

Parts on upper limb arterial and venous assessment and visceral vessel assessment are also planned and will be sold later at an additional cost.

The subsidised price for paid-up members of the SVT is £40 (one copy per member)

and £120 for non-SVT members or Departmental Copies.

There are 2 forms for the Vascular Laboratory Practice - Please Click on the Link to Load the appropriate form and then Print them out.
