The Non-Ionising Radiation service of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering is looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Scientist to join our team at the University Hospital of Wales. The post is a full-time, permanent position, working with six other Clinical Scientists, two healthcare assistants and a receptionist.

We provide Vascular Ultrasound Services to about 10,000 inpatients and outpatients patients a year at clinics across the Health Board and the broader region. Our service provides the full range of vascular ultrasound scans including carotid, deep vein thrombosis, arterial and varicose vein. We also provide a range of specialist services including the vascular access service, ultrasound QA, laser safety, scientific support, teaching and training.

The successful post holder will primarily provide carotid and deep vein thrombosis scans to inpatients and outpatients, with scope for further training and experience in other scan types. We enjoy close links with Cardiff and Swansea Universities, and there would be opportunities to support scientific work, research, teaching and training. Some experience of Vascular Ultrasound is desirable, and the post holder would work with the supervision of experienced Clinical Scientists and the Head of Non-Ionising Radiation.

We will only accept applications from individuals who have registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Clinical Scientist, or who will be eligible for registration within 1 year.

We are searching for someone who shares our values that:

We care about the people we serve and the people we work with
We trust one another
We respect each other
We take personal responsibility
We treat people with kindness
We act with integrity
In return we will offer you a dynamic, friendly working environment, a full induction programme and an individual personal development plan to guide your development within the role.
