We are seeking to employ an experienced, enthusiastic accredited Vascular Scientist (AVS) to join our busy and expanding Vascular Lab. Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital is now the Vascular Hub for the Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust. So, it is an exciting time to join us as we continue to develop this service. This unique part-time role will see the successful candidate join a Vascular Lab that consists of a Lead Clinical Vascular Scientist, (AVS) a part-time senior Clinical Vascular Scientist (AVS), an advanced trainee, a second trainee and a HCA. The department is fully supportive of professional development and service improvement. Our facilities are spread across 3 rooms, 2 air-conditioned scanning rooms with ergonomic couches, 2 GE Logiq E10 ultrasound machines and a GE portable ultrasound machine. We are located beside the Vascular ward, alongside our team of Vascular Surgeons and the Vascular Nurse Specialist, whom we work closely with. You will be expected to carry out and independently report to a high standard, the full range of investigations. This includes carotid artery Duplex, upper and lower limb arterial and venous (DVT and insufficiency) Duplex, EVAR follow-up & AAA surveillance, graft surveillance, pre-operative marking and pre- and post-fistula assessments. You will also participate in training and supervising junior members of staff. Our Vascular Lab is open 7 days a week and working weekends and bank holidays may be a requirement.
