Vascular Access and Haemodialysis Study Day (Sold Out)

Background:
Following our successful Upper Limb/Thoracic Outlet and GCA study days, we are pleased to announce that our next study day will be dedicated to Vascular Access and Haemodialysis. The study day will take a multidisciplinary approach to vascular access, including presentations from esteemed guest speakers from vascular surgery, nephrology, and interventional radiology. The day includes vascular ultrasound demonstrations as well as a hands-on session where attendees may scan example patients firsthand. The event will be catered and include refreshments/lunch. The study day will take place at King’s College Hospital Weston Education Centre, Denmark – conveniently accessible by direct trains from London Victoria, London Blackfriars, and Clapham Junction. More details regarding the day will be released in due course.
Proposed Topics (provisional):
- Vascular Surgery and Innovations: Arteriovenous fistula/graft creation from a surgeon’s perspective, latest advancements in vascular surgery techniques for AVF/AVG creation and salvage procedures.
- Ultrasound in Vascular Assessment: Vascular access surveillance and mapping from a clinical scientist’s perspective. Exploring the role of ultrasound in assessing vascular access, identifying complications, and optimizing patient outcomes.
- Interventional Radiology: The role of interventional radiology in procedures related to vascular access and dialysis.
- Nursing Perspectives: Highlighting the critical role of dialysis nurse specialists in patient education, care coordination, and access management.
- Renal Medicine: Background on patient pathway, the importance of intervention, and patient outcomes.
