The Vascular team here at Portsmouth are excited to offer this senior leadership role and are seeking suitable candidates for Deputy Head of Service. The successful candidate will work alongside the Head of Service (a Consultant Clinical Scientist post) in this development post to ensure the maintenance of our successional planning strategy. Are you ready to join our friendly and supportive multi-professional team, in our IQIPS accredited department? Are you looking for a better working balance, with a department that promises at least 20% of time away from scanning? Would you like to work in purpose designed air-conditioned clinics that are fully supported by an assistant and administrative staff? Teamwork and development are at our heart, supporting each other to manage workloads, and helping us to provide excellent levels of care to each of our patients. We ensure that each person plays a role in service development and the auditing of our service, and you will have protected time away from scanning each week to allow for this and line management duties. CPD participation, engagement in research, as well as Trust based training and development opportunities are encouraged. We provide vascular ultrasound diagnostics to the Wessex Vascular Network and organise regular meetings for the Duplex providers in the Network. We work very closely with the Network team of Vascular Surgeons, Vascular Radiologists and Vascular Nurse Specialists who are based within our Unit with all staff benefitting from these close working relationships. Our facilities include 3 large clinic rooms, all equipped with ergonomic couches, stools, and high specification ultrasound machines. We are passionate about the quality of our service, as demonstrated in our patient satisfaction surveys. We are looking for an experienced Vascular Scientist with either HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist or Society for Vascular Technology AVS accreditation and ideally 3 years further Vascular Ultrasound experience. You will be fully supported to develop personally, encouraged to engage with the Leadership and Development opportunities available at our Trust and work towards obtaining the skills and qualifications to meet our successional planning agenda. We welcome applications from individuals seeking part-time or job-share positions. This role is subject to an R & R payment totaling £5,000 for those already possessing Society of Vascular Technology Accreditation (taxable) – those without the AVS qualification will be fully supported to obtain this. Why come to Portsmouth? Portsmouth is a vibrant and dynamic waterfront city. Situated on the south coast, it benefits from easy access to blue flag beaches and water sports. There are great local cycling networks and walking routes; and with the South Downs and New Forest national parks also on the doorstep, this is the perfect location for those that enjoy an outdoors lifestyle. Situated just outside of the city but with excellent public transport options, cycle networks and a staff park and ride service, the hospital is an easy commute. The city itself is also well connected with direct trains to London and Brighton and motorway links to the east, west and north. Southampton airport is just a 20-minute train journey and both Gatwick and Heathrow are just over 60 miles away. We also benefit from numerous ferries to the continent and Isle of Wight.
