The SVT have been working hard over the last few years to try to resolve the Vascular Science workforce problems.

Recent workforce and recruitment audits have shown that recruitment is difficult for most Trusts around the UK and anecdotal evidence shows that Trusts are already working to resolve this using new innovative ways by creating bespoke roles for lower band staff to perform some of easier parts of the Vascular Scientist role.

In response to this, the SVT thought it important to support this by working to provide standardised qualifications to ensure high quality and safety for our patients.

This has resulted in additional qualification open to staff working within Vascular Science allowing staff to potentially move from a level 2 to a level 8 qualifications without leaving the profession.
